Reading Mysteries

Reading mystery worksheets give students a reason to read closely. In every Kiwiland Reading Mystery, students read a two-page passage, answer text-evidence comprehension questions, and use their answers to cross suspects off a line-up until only the culprit remains. The passage is the evidence, so skimming does not solve the case.

This collection holds 131 printable reading comprehension mysteries for Grades 3 to 10, in fiction and nonfiction: science topics like volcanoes, sharks and the solar system, social studies and biographies, holidays and seasonal cases, and detective fiction such as The Missing School Bus and The Museum Heist. Skills covered include main idea, inference, context clues, text structure, figurative language and vocabulary.

Every pack is print-and-go with color and black-and-white versions, written-response pages and full answer keys, so it drops straight into reading centers, sub plans, early finishers, small groups, test prep and homeschool lessons. Kiwiland resources carry a 4.84-star rating across more than 10,000 teacher reviews on Teachers Pay Teachers.
