Multiplication & Division CSI Mystery Worksheets | Grades 3–5 | Zombie Raid

$4.50 USD

Halloween multiplication and division CSI math worksheets with a zombie on the loose: Zombie Raid is a CSI Mystery Detective case for October, plus multi-digit addition and subtraction. Something in the cemetery took the dare nobody takes, and came out. The mystery for 4th grade and 5th grade is which zombie, and its eye color, the age it died and the rest of the description surface one problem at a time. Each correct answer strikes a suspect off the line-up, which is why the work gets checked. Color and black-and-white pages, answer keys, print and go. Students color the correct arrow and follow a path to the final total.

The Case: Zombie Raid

On the paper round you always pedal a bit faster past the cemetery. Everyone does. Your friends dare each other to cut through it and nobody ever takes the dare. Today something took it the other way, and came out. Your students have the eye color, the age it died and the rest of the description to work out, one problem at a time.

What's Inside

  • Multiplication used to color the correct arrow to the next clue
  • A matching page where the line drawn passes through the letter that matters
  • Addition with three-digit and four-digit numbers
  • Subtraction with large multi-digit numbers
  • Addition and subtraction along a path where the final total settles the clue
  • Full color and black-and-white versions of every page
  • Answer keys for the whole case

What Is a CSI Mystery Detective Case?

Take a math escape room, remove the locks and the app, and put a suspect list in their place: that is a CSI Mystery Detective case. Students solve the page, each right answer clears one name, and the last one standing is the arrest. Nothing is prepared, cut or installed. Ordinary math worksheets let a class coast; detective activities do not, because a single wrong answer leaves a description matching nobody. It works as a math activity, in math centers, or as something to hand a substitute.

When to Use This Resource

  • Halloween week in October, when a normal worksheet will not hold them
  • Multiplication and division review before or after a unit
  • Math centers, early finishers and independent work
  • Emergency sub plans that run themselves
  • End of year review, when attention is thin and the work still has to happen

Grade Levels

Built for 4th grade and 5th grade. Fourth graders usually pair up on the four-digit subtraction; fifth graders run the case independently. It also gives 6th grade students who need multiplication and division review something worth doing.

Why Teachers Love CSI Mystery Detective Cases

  • Zero prep - print and hand out
  • Self-checking by design, because a wrong answer breaks the deduction
  • A Halloween activity that still does real math
  • Works as a whole lesson, a center, or a filler for an awkward afternoon

CSI Math Mysteries turn regular math practice into a clue-based investigation. Students solve problems, use their answers as evidence, and eliminate suspects until the case is solved.

2

Solve the Clues

Each clue gives students focused math practice using the target skill for that resource.

3

Eliminate Suspects

4

Crack the Case

By the end, only one suspect remains and students can reveal the answer to the mystery.
