Addition & Subtraction Within 100 CSI Mystery Worksheets | Grades 2–3 | Space Mission

$4.50 USD

CSI Mystery Detective work on multiplication and division facts, aboard an unidentified object orbiting Jupiter: Space Mission is a set of CSI math worksheets that 3rd grade and 4th grade students will treat like a real assignment. The Space Agency has had no reply, so a team is going in, and every corridor forces a choice only a times table or a division fact can settle. That makes it an August option for the first weeks back, when multiplication and division need dusting off. Students color the correct star, follow a planet trail, decode a message off a space map, and check worked answers, closing the mystery one fact at a time. Answer keys included.

The Case: Space Mission

The Space Agency has found something in orbit around Jupiter that should not be there. Every attempt at communication has gone unanswered, so a team has been sent aboard, and your students are leading it. The object is dark, the layout makes no sense, and every corridor forces a choice. The only reliable guide is the math.

What's Inside

  • Multiplication facts used to color the correct star and route onward
  • Addition along a planet trail where the running total decides the way
  • Reading letters off a space map with a key to solve a secret message
  • Division facts decoded through a key to reveal the next instruction
  • Checking worked answers for errors and tallying which are correct
  • Full color and black-and-white versions of every page
  • Answer keys for the whole case

What Is a CSI Mystery Detective Case?

A CSI Mystery Detective case is what a math escape room becomes when the locks come off and the deduction stays. Students solve, strike a name off the line-up, and keep narrowing until one suspect is left. Nothing to cut, nothing to install, nothing to prepare. Unlike ordinary math worksheets it cannot be drifted through, because an error leaves more than one suspect standing and the class sees it immediately. A math activity that fills a lesson, suits math centers, and works as detective activities for early finishers.

When to Use This Resource

  • Times table and division fact practice that is not a timed test
  • Back-to-school weeks and end of year review
  • Math centers, early finishers and independent work
  • Emergency sub plans that run themselves
  • A space or STEM topic week, alongside science work

Grade Levels

Built for 3rd grade and 4th grade. Third graders may want their times tables to hand for the later pages; fourth graders usually run the whole case independently. It also gives 5th grade students who need multiplication and division fact review something with a point to it.

Why Teachers Love CSI Mystery Detective Cases

  • Zero prep - print and hand out
  • Self-checking by design, because a wrong answer breaks the deduction
  • Fact fluency practice students ask to do again
  • Works as a whole lesson, a center, or a filler for an awkward afternoon

CSI Math Mysteries turn regular math practice into a clue-based investigation. Students solve problems, use their answers as evidence, and eliminate suspects until the case is solved.

3

Eliminate Suspects

4

Crack the Case

By the end, only one suspect remains and students can reveal the answer to the mystery.
