Long division with remainders practice for 4th grade, in ten no prep math Mini Mystery Detective cases with a zoo theme. These long division worksheets cover 3-digit and 4-digit dividends divided by 1-digit divisors, with every answer written as a quotient and remainder. Use these math activities for math centers, morning work or homework, and you'll find an answer key for every case.
Use this pack once your class knows the steps of long division. Each case is a little harder than the one before, and you can give each group the page that suits them. Students match each quotient and remainder to a suspect and cross that name off. It's self-checking. Zeros in the quotient, a first digit too small to share, and a remainder or no remainder case are all included.

When to Use This Resource
The cases start with a 2-digit warm-up and move to 3-digit and then 4-digit dividends. You can hand out one at a time once the standard algorithm has been introduced, or pull a single page when a group needs more time on zeros or on 4-digit dividends. The remainder or no remainder case checks that students finish each problem. It's also useful for guided math groups, test prep, sub plans, early finishers and homeschool lessons, and for end of year review.
Grade Levels
Written for 4th grade, where students first divide up to 4-digit numbers by 1-digit divisors and write remainders. The 4-digit and mixed review cases give confident 4th graders a stretch, and the pack makes a quick long division review at the start of 5th grade before 2-digit divisors arrive.
