Long Division CSI Mystery Worksheets | Grades 4–6 | The Divided Monster

$4.50 USD

Long division practice worksheets, division with remainders activities, and multi-digit division word problems for 4th grade and 5th grade are all included in this printable CSI Mystery Detective case. Students divide 3-digit and 4-digit numbers by a 1-digit divisor, with and without remainders, in a pack built for math centers, early finishers, sub days, homework and end-of-unit review - completely no prep, just print and go.

Long division is the skill students most want to give up on, and the one that rewards repetition most. This case hides the repetition inside a mystery, so a class that groans at a page of quotients will work through the whole set to find out who did it.

What's Included in This Case?

  • Division basic facts through 12, so recall is warm before the algorithm starts
  • Dividing 3-digit numbers by a 1-digit divisor with no remainders
  • Dividing 4-digit numbers by a 1-digit divisor with no remainders
  • Dividing 4-digit numbers by a 1-digit divisor with remainders, and what the remainder means
  • Division word problems, where students decide what to divide before they divide it
  • Answer keys for every page

One case to crack, solved clue by clue as the division gets harder.

What Is a CSI Mystery Detective?

A CSI Mystery Detective is a print-and-solve math activity - an escape room without the locks. Students work through math problems to collect evidence, eliminate suspects and reveal who did it, so real skill practice comes wrapped in a detective hook that keeps the whole class engaged. The pages check themselves: a wrong answer stops the mystery in its tracks, so students go back and find their own mistake before it ever reaches your marking pile.

About This Case

Something very strange has happened at Monster School. A student named Squirmy has been split into two conflicting parts, and nothing he does works properly any more. Principal Spookington needs a detective who can divide carefully enough to work out who is behind it.

When to Use This Resource

  • Math centers and rotations
  • Independent long division practice and morning work
  • Early finisher and enrichment folders
  • Emergency sub days - hand it over and it runs itself
  • RTI, intervention and small-group work
  • Homework and homeschool lessons
  • End-of-unit review, test prep and the last weeks of the year

Grade Levels

Designed for 4th and 5th grade. The basic facts and 3-digit pages give 3rd graders moving into long division a way in, and the 4-digit and remainder pages give 6th graders who still need the algorithm real practice without a babyish worksheet.

Why Teachers Love CSI Mystery Detectives

  • Zero prep - print and hand out
  • Self-checking, so students catch their own errors
  • Prints clean in black and white
  • Holds the attention of students who avoid long division
  • Real standards-aligned division practice, not busy work
