2-Digit Addition & Subtraction | Mystery Detective Worksheets | Grades 1–3 | Thanksgiving Theme

$4.00 USD

Thanksgiving 2 digit addition and subtraction worksheets for 1st grade and 2nd grade: five turkey math cases, each a Mystery Detective page with adding and subtracting on the same sheet. No prep, print and go, full answer keys, for November morning work, math centers, early finishers, homework and sub plans. Thanksgiving math for 1st grade and 2nd grade, with 2 digit addition and subtraction on the same page, so both skills get practiced in the short week before the break. The turkey stories keep a young class going, it slots into November morning work or a Thanksgiving math center, and a CSI Mini Mystery Detective marks itself.

Thanksgiving week runs on a short timetable and a class full of holiday excitement, and somebody who will not say who is carving the turkey is what holds a first grade class happily to the page. Students rule out a suspect with every answer, so the marking is student-led. Five math cases, one Mystery Detective download, and that is the week covered.

Somebody has to carve the turkey, a Thanksgiving feast invitation has no sender, and the teacher wants to thank a student. Students add or subtract, then cross off the clue with the same number. Both operations are mixed on each page.

The Cases

  1. Good Deeds - kindness around the school
  2. Who is Carving the Turkey - the family feast needs a carver
  3. The Gift - an unsigned gift in class
  4. Thankful Teacher - who the teacher wants to thank
  5. Thanksgiving Feast - who sent the invitation

How Math Mysteries Work

Each Math Mystery resource gives you five one-page cases that turn math practice into a clue-based investigation. Here's exactly how a case plays out.

CASE FILE 5 MYSTERIES

Every set is a ready-to-solve investigation

Students become the math detective. They read a story, crunch the numbers, and use their answers as evidence to rule out suspects — until only the culprit is left standing.

1
STEP 01

Read the Case

Each mystery opens with a short, themed story that sets the scene and tells students exactly what they're trying to find out — who took something, what went missing, or what really happened.

Hooks them in seconds
2
STEP 02

Solve the Problems

Students work through a set of problems built around the target skill. Every answer is a clue — so there's a real reason to get each one right.

Focused skill practice
3
STEP 03

Eliminate Suspects

Students match their answers against the suspect list and cross off names one clue at a time. Wrong math means the wrong suspect — so the activity self-checks as they go.

STEP 04

Crack the Case

One suspect is left — and students reveal who did it. The payoff makes review feel like a win, and they're ready to start the next case.
