Multiplication & Division CSI Mystery Worksheets | Grades 4–6 | Halloween School Witch

$4.50 USD

Halloween multiplication and division CSI math worksheets, with rounding and multi-digit addition folded into the clues, make up this CSI Mystery Detective case for October. For 4th grade and 5th grade, it works as a 4th grade math review or as a standalone multiplication and division mystery that students want to finish. Everyone at your school knows the witch stories, but this time the witches left evidence: a hat, a wand, a broom and a pet, and one suspect in the line-up who matches all four. Print it, color or black and white, and the whole case is ready to hand out. Each correct fact rules a suspect out, and answer keys cover every page.

The Case: The School Witches

Everyone at your school knows the stories. The witches come out at night, and the mischief they leave behind is always just deniable enough that nobody can prove anything. Lately it has been getting worse, and this time they have left evidence. Your students have the hat, the wand, the broom and the pet to work with, and one witch out of the line-up that all four descriptions have to match.

What's Inside

  • Checking multiplication and division facts for errors and tallying the results
  • Multi-digit addition running into four-digit and five-digit answers
  • Times table problems that color the correct arrow to the next clue
  • Addition and subtraction along a path where the final total settles the clue
  • Rounding a number to find the letter that completes the puzzle
  • Full color and black-and-white versions of every page
  • Answer keys for the whole case

What Is a CSI Mystery Detective Case?

Give a class a crime, a suspect list and a page of math worksheets, and you have a CSI Mystery Detective case. The answers do the work: each right one removes a name until only the culprit is left. It is a math escape room in everything but the hardware - no locks, no app, nothing to set up. Detective activities also carry their own marking, because a wrong answer stops the case closing at all. Run it as a math activity, drop it into math centers, or keep it for a sub plan.

When to Use This Resource

  • Halloween week in October, when a normal worksheet will not hold them
  • Fact fluency practice that is not another timed test
  • Math centers, early finishers and independent work
  • Emergency sub plans that run themselves
  • End of year review, when attention is thin and the work still has to happen

Grade Levels

Built for 4th grade and 5th grade. Fourth graders usually pair up for the five-digit addition page; fifth graders can run the whole case independently inside a lesson. It also gives 6th grade students whose times tables have gone rusty a way to rebuild them.

Why Teachers Love CSI Mystery Detective Cases

  • Zero prep - print and hand out
  • Self-checking by design, because a wrong answer breaks the deduction
  • A Halloween activity that still does real math
  • Works as a whole lesson, a center, or a filler for an awkward afternoon
