Decimal Operations CSI Math Mystery Worksheets | Grades 5–6 | The Bank Heist

$4.50 USD

All four operations with decimals become the evidence in a locked-vault case — students line up the decimal point, work with money to the cent, and move the point when multiplying and dividing by 10 and 100, ruling out cash bags one clue at a time until only the stolen one is left. No prep, printable and self-checking, it works for math centers, spiral review, test prep, sub days and independent practice.

Quick Details

Skill: Adding, subtracting, multiplying, dividing, comparing and ordering decimals · Grades: 5–6 · Format: One full case, 5 clue pages + complete answer keys (printable PDF, color and black-and-white) · Theme: The Bank Heist

The Case

Just after closing time on Friday the manager of City Central Bank locked the vault for the weekend. On Monday morning the door was still locked and the alarm had never sounded — but one of the cash bags is gone. Fifteen bags are listed in the register, and only the math will say which one.

The 5 Clues

Clue One — Order the Evidence — Students solve every problem, then write the answers in order from smallest to largest; the letters underneath spell the clue.

Clue Two — The Receipts — Students work out each of the bank's receipts themselves and stamp it CORRECT or ERROR; whichever stamp wins names the color of the bag.

Clue Three — The Crossnumber — Answers go into a crossnumber grid one digit per square, with the decimal point in its own square, and the shaded digits add up to the clue.

Clue Four — The Wire Transfer Trail — Students start with the opening amount and follow the arrows, doing each step in turn to track the money to its final total.

Clue Five — The Floor Plan Maze — Students start at IN, solve the problem in the room they are in, and leave through the door showing their answer, room by room until they reach END.

Why Teachers Love It

Zero prep — print and teach. Five genuinely different puzzle formats keep the practice from feeling like a worksheet, and every page is self-checking, so a misplaced decimal point breaks the puzzle visibly and students fix it themselves before they ever reach the key.

Skills Covered

Adding and subtracting decimals to hundredths, multiplying and dividing decimals, working with money to the cent, multiplying and dividing by powers of ten, and comparing and ordering decimals — plus logical reasoning and deductive elimination as students rule suspects out clue by clue.

What's Included

A story page that sets up the case, five printable clue worksheets, the suspect chart of fifteen cash bags, complete answer keys and clear student instructions — every page in full color and in an ink-saving black-and-white version, all in one PDF.

Best Used For
